CRI Online: The three-day Bucharest University sub-forum of World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF) closed on June 3 in Romania. More than 50 women university presidents, experts and scholars from China, Romania, America, Russia, France, Korea, Turkey, Serbia, Spain, and Finland exchanged their ideas in the sub-forum with the theme of “Adaptability & Breakthrough: University’s Reform and Innovation in the New Ecology of Higher Education”. Gülser Corat, the Director of the Division for Gender Equality at UNESCO, attended the forum and delivered a speech.

Participants agreed that institutions of higher learning should face up to the challenge and opportunities brought by the new ecosystem of higher education, adapt to the pressure and demand of new ecosystem, and usher effectively in the progress of social ecology through systematic upgrading and especially the innovation of education.

Liu Jinan, president of the WWUPF Committee and Institute of Modern Women Leadership, indicated that considering the uncertainty and complicacy faced by global governance currently, concerted efforts of both men and women are required. Women intelligence and leadership will contribute to solving the problem concerning global governance. She also stressed that in face of the challenge and problem caused by the new ecosystem of education, universities are the forefront of advocating and implementing gender civilization, and women university presidents should be the pioneer and animateur.

WWUPF was initiated and launched 16 years ago. This sub-forum was co-hosted by “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University and Communication University of China.

WWUPF is held in China every two to three years. While during the interval, a sub-forum is held around the world. The tenth sub-forum will be held at Ural State Pedagogical University in Russia this autumn. In 2018, the 8th forum of WWUPF will be held in Wuhan, China.
