On November 7, the opening ceremony of the 9th World Women University Presidents Forum was held at Xi'an University of Science and Technology. The forum, opened both online and offline, focused on the theme of " Global Empathy· Mutual Learning Among Civilizations· University Innovation", which aims to give some suggestions on the significant global issues----how to empower women and improve women's leadership.
The participants highly appreciated the role played by the Forum and its great achievements in the topic of higher education. The World Women University Presidents Forum has continued to focus on women's growth, development and leadership enhancement, which is not only a platform for the communication of academic ideas, but also a catalyst for the international and regional cooperation of universities. Therefore it is acclaimed a reflection and crystallization of the perseverance, wisdom and sentiment of female presidents of universities around the world.
The participants also said that the theme of this forum highlighting global empathy and cooperation, fits the vision of common development of mankind. People all around the world share one future and thus the response to global issues is the responsibility of each country and the common mission of each university. We look forward to the insights of the female presidents and expect that we can work together to cultivate more outstanding female talents and contribute to further promoting gender equality and comprehensive development of women.
Liao Xiangzhong, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Communication University of China, highly valued the significant role played by the World Women Universitiy Presidents Forum in the past 20 years. He pointed out that the Forum has become an important platform for sharing the wisdom of women presidents, promoting exchange and cooperation in higher education, and practicing inclusiveness and mutual appreciation of global civilization beyond continents, civilizations and East-West framework. It has become an emotional link and spiritual home for women presidents, which has nurtured many valuable ideas for the development of higher education, and also demonstrated the leading role of the female university presidents in the enhancement of women's leadership.
Liu Weiguo, Secretary of Party Committee of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, said that higher education upholds the consciousness on "community of shared future", pays attention to the potential risks from nature and focuses on the challenges faced in social development, which is the source of power to promote the progress of human society. And women, who combine wisdom and beauty, are increasingly becoming the backbone to promote social progress and civilization.
A number of guests also gave speeches on the sub-themes of the forum.
Nearly 200 female university presidents from 64 countries and regions participated in the opening ceremony through online and offline methods, focusing on the theme of " Global Empathy· Mutual Learning Among Civilizations· University Innovation ".
