The 9th World Women University Presidents Forum was held in Xi'an

  (Reporter Feng Li) From November 6 to 7, nearly 200 female university presidents from 64 countries and regions gathered on the 9th World Women University Presidents Forum in the ancient city of Xi'an, focusing on the theme of " Global Empathy· Mutual Learning Among Civilizations· University Innovation "through online and offline ways. Female university presidents and other leaders and guests actively exchanged ideas on how to build a community of shared future for mankind in the post-pandemic era, how to promote mutual learning among world civilizations and the innovative development of universities. They also put emphasis on how to play the role of women, improve women’s leadership and other major global issues.

  It is reported that the Forum is an effective platform for the exchange of academic ideas and the promotion of international and regional cooperation among universities, which is a reflection and crystallization of the perseverance, wisdom and sentiment of female presidents of universities around the world. This year's forum includes several important sessions such as keynote speeches, thematic roundtables and the release of a common declaration. Chen Xu, Secretary of Party Committee of Tsinghua University, and Saniye Gülser Corat, former Director of Division for Gender Equality of UNESCO, gave speeches on the theme of the forum. Women experts and scholars, including Cheng Jialing, Honorary Chairman of Shih Hsin University, and Judith Kinnear, former President of Massey University in New Zealand, reviewed the memorable events of the Forum in the past 20 years, summarized the important achievements and roles played by the Forum, and discussed the future development of the Forum from different perspectives. The conference honored 10 universities and organizations that won the "Special Contribution Memorial Award" of the Forum and adopted the "Xi'an Declaration".
