On May 25, the 11th World Women University Presidents Forum opened at Huanghe S&T University.

The theme of this year’s forum is “Multicultural Backgrounds and Common Development: The Responsibility of Higher Education Leaders”. The event is jointly organized by the Organizing Committee of World Women University Presidents Forum, Huanghe S&T University and the Communication University of China, with support from the Women Leadership Academy and other organizations. The two-day forum attracted over 200 participants from 60 countries and regions and includes subtopics on issues such as Openness of Higher Education and Continuity of Civilization, The Shared Visions of Humanity and Liberal Education, The Evolution of Intelligent Society and Educational Forms, Sharing of School-running Experience and Educational Wisdom, and Multicultural Backgrounds and Female Leadership.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Shuting, President of the Communication University of China, emphasized in his speech that education is a foundational, strategic, and supportive force in fostering multicultural coexistence and global development. He stressed the need for the global higher education community to collaborate, build consensus, renew concepts, and skillfully leverage technology to promote the coexistence of diverse cultures and shared progress. He further underscored that higher education should cultivate a global perspective on civilization that encourages mutual understanding and promotes multicultural coexistence, as well as a global development outlook that is open, inclusive, and geared towards shared growth.

Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People’s Congress and Director of the Working Committee for the care of  the Next Generation, stated that it is the mission of higher education to unearth the river of multicultural exchange, build bridges of cultural communication, and create a flourishing garden of multicultural diversity.

The World Women University Presidents Forum was launched in August 2001 by the Communication University of China and has, over the past 24 years, brought together more than 2,000 female university presidents from 120 countries and regions, contributing valuable insights to the advancement of higher education.

Huanghe S&T University, one of the organizers of this year’s forum, is the first private regular undergraduate institution in China. Over the past 40 years, the university has cultivated more than 300,000 high-caliber talents.
